“Popular Play revives Anti-racism Message”

This is the headline of an article written in the Winnipeg Free Press dated October 27, 2000 on a play that was revived by Manitoba Theatre for Young People. The Play ran for 11 days at it CanWest Global Performing Arts Centre and then proceeded to do a seven-week tour. All totaled this play and workshops that were hosted by the school, reached out to an audience of over 25,000 Manitoban children. A letter received  reads “New Canadian Kid is an excellent performance to help promote social justice and equality in Canada. The performance covered many issues/difficulties/transitions that newcomers to Canada must face and presented a realistic picture of the positive and negatives. Each child should have taken away something to think about in regards to their responsibility and attitude towards new people in Canada. The play builds on empathy, respect and a deeper understanding for people who leave their homeland. Thank you PLURA . The workshop was very much appreciated” – Faraday School. The following was a hand written note from a school that received one of the workshops that our funding sponsored. This was definitely a project of  great value and we look forward to what may come in the new year.
